The Challenge

The client aimed to establish a prestigious dental clinic in a locally significant, heritage-listed building, originally the area’s first post office. This setting posed several challenges, including:

1. Compliance with Modern Standards: Bringing the building up to current codes without compromising its historical character was a priority. External modifications were limited, requiring innovative solutions within the building’s original layout.

2. Internal Deterioration: Over time, the building’s structural elements had degraded, demanding careful restoration work. Spatial Efficiency: The client needed a functional yet spacious clinic layout that maximized utility without sacrificing the building’s architectural appeal.

The Solution

Agero approached this project with a meticulous design plan that respected the building’s historical elements while creating a calming, upscale environment for dental patients.

Heritage Compliance: Externally, only essential restorations were performed to preserve the historical character. Inside, modern fitout techniques were employed that seamlessly integrated with the building’s original architecture, meeting current compliance standards without altering the building’s exterior.

Restorative Interior Design: The team retained and enhanced the building’s unique character, incorporating handcrafted decorative hallway arches and sophisticated finishes. Materials were carefully selected to ensure durability while aligning with the desired aesthetic of a high-end dental clinic.

Efficient Spatial Planning: Agero designed an efficient layout that maximised room utility, ensuring the clinic’s viability and the patient experience. The spatial design created a sense of openness, balancing private treatment areas with a welcoming reception that feels more like a day spa than a traditional dental office.
